Christoph Schäublin
Christoph Schäublin (born March 4, 1941 in Basel ) is a Swiss classical philologist .
Life
Christoph Schäublin studied Classical Philology at the University of Basel , where he received his doctorate in 1967 under Bernhard Wyss and his habilitation in 1973 . During his student days he joined the Swiss Zofingerverein . He then taught as a private lecturer and since 1979 as an associate professor at the University of Basel. In 1982 he switched to the chair of Latin Philology at the University of Bern . In 1995 he was elected rector of the university. He held this office until his retirement (2005), since 1997 full-time.
Christoph Schäublin is mainly concerned with ancient Latin literature. He treats pagan as well as Christian authors and is a specialist in Roman and Christian religion.
