Chuzhou ( Chinese 滁州 市 , Pinyin Chúzhōu Shì ) is a district-free city in the eastern part of Anhui Province in the People's Republic of China . The administrative area of the city of Chuzhou has an area of 13,398 km² and about 4.04 million inhabitants (end of 2016). 392,461 people live in the actual urban settlement area of Chuzhou (2010 census). The city is located near Nanjing , about 50 km from there in a south-east direction. It is a good 200 km to the sea, and Shanghai is just under 350 km away. Some German companies have production facilities in Chuzhou (e.g. BSH Hausgeräte GmbH and Dahle).
