CityJet A / S (until 2018 Cimber A / S ) is a Danish personnel service provider based in Kastrup and was a Danish airline based in Sønderborg and based at Sønderborg Airport . The main activity of Cityjet A / S is to provide crews for aircraft belonging to the parent company CityJet DAC .

Cimber was founded in May 2012 as the successor company of the insolvent predecessor Cimber Sterling , which in turn carried the company name of Cimber Air, founded in 1950, until December 2008. Cimber took over the contract of Cimber Sterling, which operated several routes on behalf of SAS Scandinavian Airlines .
In September 2014 it was announced that SAS wanted to expire all contracts with Cimber for the 2015 summer flight schedule. Cimber therefore planned to cease operations at the end of March 2015.
In December 2014, SAS announced that it would take over Cimber for 2.7 million euros . The acquisition was completed on February 2, 2015. All aircraft used up to then (one ATR 72-200 and five Bombardier CRJ200s ) were replaced in 2015 by twelve Bombardier CRJ900s that Cimber had received from its parent company SAS.

Takeover of CityJet DAC
On January 31, 2017, Cimber was taken over by CityJet , which also operates wet lease flights for SAS . CityJet will operate eleven Cimber aircraft from 2017, but are to be replaced by ten new acquisitions of the same type.
CityJet A / S
In 2018 the name of the company was changed from Cimber A / S to CityJet A / S and in the course of 2018 all aircraft were transferred to the parent company CityJet DAC, the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) was also returned.
