Circus is Lenny Kravitz's fourth studio album . It was released on Virgin Records in September 1995 .

To the formation

In retrospect, Kravitz described the creation of the album Circus as a tough process. For one thing, he was dissatisfied with the mechanics of the music business. On the other hand, he had to deal with his mother's illness. When asked about the satisfaction with the commercial success of the record, he said: “I made the record that my life had me make. Each one is like a diary. ”(“ I made the recording that made my life make me. Each one is like a diary. ”) The theme of the rock star lifestyle can also be found in the first single, Rock and Roll Is Dead .

success

The album reached number ten on the Billboard 200 , number eight in the German charts, number three in Austria and number one in Switzerland. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic called the album the “weakest of all Kravitz albums”, simply because “because it was named after Are You Gonna Go My Way? did not change it in any way, but simply replicated the sound of the previous album. "
