reception

criticism

The music magazine laut.de rated City Cobra with two out of a possible five stars. Editor Dani Fromm attested the album to be good approaches. For example, he praised the music, which “starts with theatrical intro imposing that pushes itself from the background over helicopter and background noises, to pitched voice samples ('God be thanks'), rumbling bass carpets ('Tage Des Donners') , gloomy, atmospheric piano passages ('This One'), 'Hollywood-ready' revue interludes and even electric guitars ('Killamusic') through to the outro "display a" pleasant variety and high class ". The texts were also highlighted positively. Although these are partly uninnovative, they are authentic and cover a wide range of topics. The unshakable uniformity in the lecture was named as the greatest flaw . Only in the title track City Cobra does this not take place either in the sung Hook Camoras or in Chakuza's rap.

The hip-hop magazine HipHop-Jam.net awarded the album four out of five mics. The author particularly praised the fast flows, the rough voice and the unique Austrian accent that took some getting used to . The productions were divided into two styles, “on the one hand hammering and dark” and on the other hand “melancholy and calm”. Overall, Chakuza was certified as a clear improvement compared to the previous Streettape Search & Destroy .

The website Rap4Fame rated Chakuza's debut with three out of a maximum of five crowns. Chakuza's style has been described as "vocal, punchy, charged, aggressive, deep, thoughtful and sarcastic". The main point of criticism was the monotonous manner of presentation, which is particularly important with the title Should all go down . Overall, City Cobra was labeled a successful debut album.

The editors of cdstarts.de distributed City Cobra five out of ten. The music was praised, which would "set the musical bar relatively high". However, mainly a few primitive and level lines of text were criticized. There are only “four to five above-average tracks” on the album, “of which, however, only half are permanently stuck in the ear”.

Chart success

City Cobra entered the German album charts at number ten in the 12th week of 2007 , and stayed in the charts for a total of nine weeks. On March 16, 2007, the album reached number 41 in the Austrian charts. Later it fell to positions 56, 42, 67, 55, 62 and 67 before it could no longer classify itself in the top 100. This represented Chakuza's first placement as a solo artist in the Austrian charts.
