Career

youth

After he went through various youth league classes there, he moved to north-west France, where he was included in Le Mans in the youth of Le Mans UC . After some time in the club's youth department, Pinault was first included in the squad of the professional team in 2004, which was represented in Ligue 2 at the time.

Club career

In the 2004/05 season , the young defender made his debut in French professional football when he came on in a 3-1 away win over LB Châteauroux on March 7, 2005 at half-time for Arnaud Lisembart . Due to the good placement of the team, they rose to second place in the table, together with AS Nancy in first place and Troyes AC in third place, in the top division, Ligue 1 . From this time on, the young Frenchman was mainly active in the amateur team in the fourth-class Championnat de France Amateur (CFA), but also made four appearances in the highest French level in the 2005/06 season .

He made his first division debut on January 4, 2006, shortly before his 21st birthday, when he was on the pitch for the full game in a 2-0 home win over FC Metz . In addition to the four league appearances, he was also used for the professional team in the French soccer cup of the 2005/06 season , where the team, however, already in the thirty-second finals with 0: 1 against RC Lens from the current competition. Also in the Coupe de la Ligue of the 2005/06 season Pinault was with his team in action. The team reached the semifinals and was eliminated there, without Pinault's participation, with 0: 2 against AS Nancy.

In addition, he also made 15 championship appearances for the B-team in the fourth division and was then awarded to the SCO Angers in the third division national (D3) for the 2006/07 season in order to collect match practice and thus make himself up for the professional team Keeping Le Mans fit. In Angers , in western France, the 1.86 m long defense line was used in a total of 26 league games and ranked third in the table with the team. Through this place, the team was entitled, together with Pinault's later club Clermont Foot (1st) and US Boulogne (2nd), to rise to Ligue 2.

After returning from his loan club Pinault came to another five first division appearances for Le Mans and was also in three games of the Coupe de la Ligue 2007/08 in use. In this cup competition, the team again only reached the semi-finals and was eliminated there, without Pinault's participation, after a hard-fought encounter with 4: 5 against RC Lens. With the B-Team in the CFA, the young defender had 14 league appearances this season. After Pinault saw no perspective in asserting himself in the professional team of Le Mans UC, he decided to change clubs.

At the start of the 2008/09 season he signed a contract with the second division Clermont Foot, for which he was henceforth used. Pinault made his team debut for the club from the central French region of Auvergne in the first game of the season, when he came on the field in the ninth minute of the game for the injured Christophe Coué and strengthened the defensive line of Clermont Foot. In the end, the team lost the home game 0-1. Until his heart attack, which ultimately also cost him his life, Clément Pinault played in nine league games and was on the pitch for the last time on January 16, 2009 in a 2-0 home win over Stade Brest , when he made the full 90 Minutes played.

Heart attack and death

On the evening of January 18, 2009, Pinault had a heart attack while on a phone call at home. After being transferred to the University Hospital in Clermont-Ferrand (Auvergne) , Pinault was immediately intubated and put into an artificial deep sleep . Although Pinault was initially in a critical phase, his condition was already stable on January 21.

On the following Thursday, January 22nd, 2009, Pinault died unexpectedly in the late afternoon of the consequences of the heart attack.
