Clarence Eugene Love (* 16th June 1976 in Jackson , Michigan ) is a former American American football poker players. He played seven seasons on the defensive back position in the National Football League (NFL).

Career

In the 1998 NFL Draft , Love was selected as the 116th player in the fourth round by the Philadelphia Eagles . For the Eagles he played in six games. During the offseason 1999 the Eagles sent him to the NFL Europe to the Frankfurt Galaxy . There he was starting cornerback and won the World Bowl with them . On September 5, 1999, the Eagles released Love.

On September 23, 1999, the Jacksonville Jaguars signed Love for their Practice Squad . He spent two months there before he was released. In December 1999, the Baltimore Ravens signed Love for their Practice Squad. In the 2000 season he was the entire time in the 53-man squad of the Ravens, but only played one game. With the Ravens he won the Super Bowl XXXV that season . After the season, he retired from the NFL for one season.

Before the start of the 2002 season , the Oakland Raiders signed him as a free agent . At the end of the regular season, Love became a starter after Charles Woodson was injured. In the same season he reached Super Bowl XXXVII with the Raiders , which they lost. Before the start of the 2004 season, the Raiders placed him on the Injured Reserve List .

Problems with the law

In 2001, Love and his teammate Chris McAlister were arrested at Las Vegas Airport after they got into an argument with a flight attendant over the allocation of seats. He was arrested in 2008 after police officers watched him kick a person on the ground in the head. Love stated that he acted in self-defense because he wanted to rescue a friend from a fight. In October 2015, he was sentenced to 180 days in prison after being caught with marijuana.
