Claudia Felser

Claudia Anna-Maria Felser (also: Claudia Felser-Wenz , born July 28, 1962 in Aachen ) is a German chemist and materials scientist as well as a professor at the University of Mainz . Felser has been Director at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids in Dresden since 2011 .

Life

Felser studied chemistry from 1984 to 1989 at the Universities of Bonn and Cologne and graduated in 1989 with a diploma. She then worked in the research group of Georg Hohlneicher and was in Cologne in 1994 with a thesis on band structure calculations and photoemission experiments on between valent europium doctorate . In the following year she conducted research on superconductors under Arndt Simon and Ole Krogh Andersen at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart and from 1995 to 1996 she went to the French Center national de la recherche scientifique in Nantes , where she was part of J. Rouxel's research group researched. In 1996 she came as a university assistant at the University of Mainz , where in 2002 his habilitation and since 2003 professor of inorganic and analytical chemistry.

Her research focus is in particular materials science with a view to computer technology and the use of solar energy .

As a member of the SPD's nomination, Felser was a member of the 13th Federal Assembly in 2009 .
