Claus Richter (journalist)
Claus Richter (born November 4, 1948 in Straubing ) is a German journalist. From 2001 to 2014 he was the editor-in-chief of the ZDF political magazine Frontal21 .
Life
After graduating from high school in Düren and doing military service, Richter studied politics, economics and German at the universities of Bonn , Heidelberg and Mannheim . From 1973 Richter worked as a freelancer for WDR radio and television, in particular for the editorial team of the ARD political magazine Monitor . In 1974 Richter passed his state examination in Bonn. 1976 followed a doctorate to Dr. phil. with a work on the revolution of 1848 and German liberalism , also in Bonn. From 1976 to 1981 Richter worked as a permanent editor for Monitor . From 1981 to 1984 he was ARD correspondent and studio manager in Warsaw , 1984 to 1987 ARD correspondent and studio manager in New York and 1987 to 1991 ARD correspondent and studio manager in East Berlin . From 1991 to 1997 Richter was ZDF correspondent and studio manager for Southeast Asia in Singapore and from 1997/1998 ZDF correspondent and studio manager in Moscow .
From May 1, 1998 to December 31, 2000, Richter was ZDF's chief reporter and, in addition to current reports, also shot documentaries such as Amazon Adventure , The New Silk Road and The Battle for Caspian Oil .
From January 1, 2001 to January 31, 2014 he was editor-in-chief of the ZDF political magazine Frontal21 . Since 2002 he has been a freelance lecturer at the ems Electronic Media School in Babelsberg and since March 2014 professor of television journalism at the University of Television and Film Munich .
