Cleisson Edson Assunção , called Cleisson , (born March 13, 1972 in Belo Horizonte , Minas Gerais ) is a former Brazilian football player and coach . In his career he won various national and international championships.

At the beginning of his career he tried to gain a foothold abroad at Belenenses Lisbon , but could not assert himself and went back to Brazil after one season. Cleisson was most successful with the Cruzeiro from Belo Horizonte. With this he won the 1997 Copa Libertadores and twice the national cup. At the 1997 World Cup final, his team lost to Borussia Dortmund . At the end of his career he also played a 2006 season in Poland .
