Clive Harold Rush (* 14 February 1931 in De Graff , Ohio ; † 22. August 1980 in London , Ohio) was an American American football players and coaches. He played one season in the positions of end , defensive back and punter for the Green Bay Packers in the National Football League (NFL).
Player career
Rush played college football at Miami University for the Miami RedHawks between 1950 and 1952 . There he was able to catch 68 passes for 1,036 yards and 14 touchdowns in three seasons . He then played a season for the Green Bay Packers in the National Football League , which used him as end , defensive back and punter .
Coaching career
Stations
Rush began his coaching career in 1953 at the University of Dayton . He then worked as a coach at the Ohio States Buckeyes and at the University of Oklahoma . In 1960 he was appointed head coach of the Toledo Rockets , but released after three seasons. Subsequently, Rush was appointed by Weeb Ewbank to the offensive coordinator of the New York Jets , with which he won Super Bowl III . On January 27, 1969, he was named head coach of the Boston Patriots . He left this in the middle of the 1970 season after suffering a nervous breakdown. In March 1971 the Washington committed the Redskins Rush, which, however, resigned after six weeks. His last coaching position was in 1976 at the Merchant Marine Academy , where he won eight of his nine games before he was dismissed after the players rebelled against his tactics. He died in 1980.
