Coatbridge and Chryston is a constituency for the Scottish Parliament . It was introduced in 1999 as one of ten constituencies in the electoral region of Central Scotland . Coatbridge and Chryston is one of five constituencies within the North Lanarkshire Council Area . The constituency sends a representative.
Before the revision in 2011, the county in the northwest also included a small area of the East Dunbartonshire region , which is now part of the constituency of Strathkelvin and Bearsden (constituency, Scotland) . Coatbridge the largest city within the confines of Coatbridge and Chryston. Chryston is to the west of the constituency.
The constituency extends over an area of 54.3 km 2 . In the 2011 census survey, a total of 69,965 people lived within its borders.
