Colonel Abrams
Colonel Abrams (* 25. May 1949 in Detroit , Michigan ; † 25. November 2016 in New York City ) was an American singer , songwriter and House - musicians who primarily for his hit single Trapped was known by the 1985th Colonel Abrams was actually his pseudonym (allmusic.com source claims it was his real name, which is definitely wrong). Colonel Abrams was born Donald Abrams.
biography
Colonel Abrams moved with his parents from Detroit to Brooklyn, New York, when he was ten. There he had a band with his brother Morris in the late 1960s. In 1976 he became the lead singer for "94 East", a band that Prince was guitarist for. The change to "Surprise Package" in New Jersey followed . This band had a small hit in 1984 with Leave the Message Behind the Door on Arthur Baker's New York label Streetwise Records. The follow-up single Music Is the Answer became an international dance hit and brought Abrams a solo contract with MCA in 1985 .
In the late 1980s Abrams was able to record some hits in the German and British single charts , including the titles Trapped , I'm Not Gonna Let You and How Soon We Forget, produced by Richard James Burgess . Trapped rose to number 3 in England and achieved gold status . Between 1984 and 1992 it was possible nine tracks in the American R & B - Charts to place. In 1990 Cameo's Larry Blackmon produced the single Bad Timing .
Boards of Canada made a remix of Trapped in 1995 under the pseudonym Hell Interface .
