Conradin Bonorand

Conradin Bonorand (born July 8, 1914 in Waltensburg , † August 13, 1996 in Chur ) was a Reformed pastor and historian from Switzerland .

Life

Conradin Bonorand was born on July 8, 1914 in Waltensburg in Surselva in the canton of Graubünden as the son of pastor Conradin Samuel Bonorand. He attended primary school in Waltensburg and the Bündner Kantonsschule in Chur. After graduating from high school , he studied Protestant theology at the universities of Zurich , Rome and Berlin from 1935 to 1939 . After graduating, he was accepted into the Evangelical-Rhaetian Synod . After 1942 he worked as a pastor in the communities of Pitasch and Riein .

In 1944 he began studying history at the University of Zurich and continued as an exchange student in Pavia in 1948. In the same year he received his doctorate from Zurich University. In 1949 he began to work as a historian in St. Gallen .

In 1952 he returned to Graubünden and became pastor in Luven and Flond . For family reasons, Bonorand moved to Chur in 1972, where he retired in 1979. Bonorand died in Chur on August 13, 1996 at the age of 82.
