Cor Brom (born August 27, 1932 in Amsterdam , † October 29, 2008 ibid) was a Dutch football player and football coach . As a coach, he won the Dutch championship and cup double with Ajax Amsterdam in 1979 .

Career

As a player, Brom was active at the Stormvogels Telstar club in Velsen .

From 1969 to 1972 he was a coach with Vitesse Arnheim , whom he led to the Eredivisie in 1971 , and from 1972 to 1976 in the second highest Dutch soccer league with Fortuna Sittard . There he narrowly missed promotion with his club in 1974. He then worked as a trainer at Sparta Rotterdam , before he took over the coaching post of Tomislav Ivić at Ajax Amsterdam in 1978 . In his first season 1978/79 he was with Ajax Amsterdam champions in the Dutch honor division and Dutch cup winner .

Due to differences with the club's management, he was dismissed from Ajax Amsterdam in September 1979. On March 25, 1981 he took over from interim player- coach Johan Boskamp as coach at the club RWD Molenbeek, which played in the Belgian First Division . He stayed there until the end of the 1981/82 season. He then worked as a coach at PEC Zwolle in the Netherlands and coached the Austrian club SSW Innsbruck in the 1984/85 season .

He later returned to Fortuna Sittard as a youth coach; In 1994 he led the club's A youth team, in which Mark van Bommel and Fernando Ricksen played alongside others , to the championship.

Brom died at the age of 76 on October 29, 2008 in an Amsterdam hospital from complications from Parkinson's disease , from which he suffered for 20 years.
