Corey Elkins (born February 23, 1985 in West Bloomfield , Michigan ) is an American ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Grizzlys Wolfsburg in the German Ice Hockey League . Elkin's brother-in-law Alex Foster is also a hockey player, his father-in-law Dwight Foster played 576 games in the National Hockey League .

Career

After four seasons with the Ohio State University team , the center moved to the American Hockey League , where he signed with the Manchester Monarchs , a farm team of the Los Angeles Kings . The Kings became aware of Elkins in their first season with the Monarchs. On December 15, 2009 he made his debut in the NHL in an away game with the Edmonton Oilers . Two days later he scored his first NHL goal in the 2-1 defeat at the Calgary Flames . In total, Elkins completed three NHL games.

After another season with the Manchester Monarchs, the American moved to Europe to join the Czech extra division HC Pardubice . On July 9, 2012, Elkins signed a two-way contract for a year with the Anaheim Ducks . There he was only used in the Norfolk Admirals and Fort Wayne Komets farm teams . On January 5, 2013, the contract was terminated by mutual agreement. Elkins played at HIFK Helsinki for the rest of the season . Thanks to his good performance, especially in the play-offs, his contract was extended for another year in the summer of 2013.

After the 2016/17 season, Elkins decided to return to North America and was signed by the Grand Rapids Griffins for a year. Another year later he returned to Europe when he signed a contract with the Grizzlys Wolfsburg from the German Ice Hockey League . However, Elkins was injured in the preparation for the season, so that there was no competitive game for Wolfsburg in the 2018/19 season.

Style of play

The strengths of the American lie in his stature, he plays with high intensity. He's also a good power play player who scores goals regularly. It can also be used in the numbered game.
