The Corps Suevia Prague was a color-bearing and obligatory student union in Prague.

history

With two corpsmen from Frankonia Prague , Suevia was founded on January 25, 1868 at Charles University . The first coat of arms from 1868 - the "Swabian Knight" - refers to Saxony because the founders wanted to call the connection Saxonia first; because of Friedrich Schiller they agreed on Suevia. The colors were green-white-gold on top gold-green and below green-gold. The fox colors were green-white-green on silver percussion. A white student cap was worn , in summer a white striker. The motto was United, Faithful, True and Free! . The corps pub was in the German student residence. When the German National movement of the Burschenschaften massive inflow gave, Suevia held as the only Prague Corps "despite a hail of saber contra Hagen" unperturbed at the Corp principles laid. She played a key role in founding the first old man's senior citizens' convention in Prague in 1889.

As early as 1914, Suevia applied for membership in the KSCV. After the work of the commission convened for this purpose was interrupted by the First World War, the admission - together with the SC zu Graz - could only be completed at the oKC in 1919. Suevia's most important advocate was Gustav Gotthilf Winkel , who received her ribbon for it and initiated the relationship with Masovia . Suevia and Frankonia formed the renewed Prague Seniors' Convention .

After the Corps with Frankonia Prague , Marchia Brno and Frankonia Brno left the KSCV in October 1933, it was one of the four founders of the Prague Seniors Convents Association in 1934 . On September 26, 1939, Suevia was officially dissolved. The surviving old men gathered in Munich after 1945 and re-founded the old men association. Reconstitution was not considered. The merger of the Prague and Brno corps proposed by Suevia, based on the model of Albertina in Hamburg, was rejected by the old rulers of the three other corps. The 100th foundation festival was celebrated in Ulm in 1968 .

Erbwalter

At first the sons of old men were active in the Corps Isaria . They acquired the Prague Swabian Band with an additional length. This relationship was later resolved and the Corps Hubertia Munich was approached. Since then there has been a sponsorship relationship with Hubertia. Swabian sons who fought on the Suevia Prague ribbon could wear the Swabian to the Huber ribbon. In 1962 the Hubertenband was awarded to 14 old Swabians from Prague, and to three other members in the following year. A traditional relationship has been concluded with the former SC Corps Frankonia Prague to Saarbrücken . Since 1989, the Corps Suevia Prague ribbon can no longer be awarded to new members. The AHV continues to exist and has voting rights in the KSCV. Parts of the corps archive are in private hands as well as with the Corps Frankonia Prague and Hubertia Munich.
