The continuous decline in population since the middle of the 19th century is mainly due to the closure of small farms and the mechanization of agriculture and the associated loss of jobs.

economy

The place has always been agriculturally oriented, whereby the self-sufficiency of the residents has long been the focus. The large forest area allowed the production of charcoal and the settlement of several blacksmiths. Since the 1960s, tourism has played an important role in the town's income in the form of holiday homes ( gîtes ) .
