The eccentric scientist and Nobel Prize winner Harry Wolper has never gotten over the loss of his wife and tries to clone her, unable to let go, with the help of her cellular tissue. The student Boris gets lost in his laboratory while after the beautiful Barbara. Harry recruits him as his assistant. With its help, it succeeds in revitalizing the cell tissue. Boris finds out Barbara's address with the help of Harry and manages to approach her. On his search for eggs to keep working, Harry meets the waitress Meli, who agrees to give him the eggs. Boris and Barbara have now fallen in love and are enjoying the time together. With the help of Melis egg cells, Harry makes his big breakthrough. The waitress Meli fell in love with Harry while they were together and makes him advances. Harry has feelings for Meli too, but he cannot break away from his dead wife. Barbara falls into a coma at a football game; the doctors are powerless and want to turn off the equipment. Boris tries desperately to prevent this and to reach Harry. At the same time, because of an intrigue, Harry's project is destroyed as the university is collecting the borrowed equipment. Harry and Meli also argue about his dead wife, and Meli disappears furiously. Boris manages to contact Harry and learns that there is nothing he can do either; but he advises him to talk to Barbara. Then Harry, who has realized that cloning cannot bring his wife back, goes in search of Meli in order to marry her. Boris talks to Barbara for two days and she miraculously wakes up from her coma.

The television magazine TV Spielfilm describes the film as "lovable, but also harmless".

The lexicon of the international film said: "Fluidly staged and well-acted romantic comedy in which the obsession of the scientist and the romance of love and life permeate."
