Czarna Woda [ ˈt͡ʂarna ˈvɔda ] ( German : Schwarzwasser ) is a town with almost three thousand inhabitants and the seat of the urban-and-rural municipality of Czarna Woda in the powiat Starogardzki in the Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland . Its area is 27.75  km² , 54% of which is forest. The city is located on the edge of the Bory Tucholskie ( Tucheler Heide ).

history

The place was founded in the 18th century, it emerged from an estate of the noble Szturmowski family . From 1818 he was part of the Prussian district of Preußisch Stargard . In the years 1869 to 1872 a railway line was built near the village . In 1880 there were 22 residential buildings in the village, the population is estimated at around 170 to 180. In 1920 Schwarzwasser became part of Poland on the basis of the Versailles Treaty . The village was occupied by the Wehrmacht between 1939 and 1945 and has belonged to Poland since the end of the Second World War .

A sawmill was built in the village at the end of the 19th century, and a chipboard factory in the 1950s . Czarna Woda received town charter in 1993 and the population was approximately 2700 in the same year.
