history

On June 25, 1230, the first written mention of Döhlen took place. The older town of Döhlen is on the banks of the Weida . At that time he was called Doeln . The Slavic word Doljane means valley dwellers.

At the Weidaufer there is an old rectory from 1712 and the wooden bridge from 1799. Both buildings are listed . One of the oldest mills on the Weida was the Döhlenmühle. It was first mentioned in a document in 1260 and operations were stopped in 1987 because the miller died and the son was not allowed to continue the business. 1749–51, a baroque hall church was built in place of a previous one . The farmers of the village were also involved in the development of agriculture in East Germany and found new forms of land management after reunification .

On December 1, 2011, the city of Auma and the neighboring towns merged to form the rural community of Auma-Weidatal.
