history

The Döhlerwald settlement is mentioned at the end of the 18th century. In 1771 it was inhabited by three "possessed men" and in 1791 it was called "Döhlerswald". In the 19th century the population rose from 39 in 1843 to 85 in 1871 and 185 in 1890. Döhlerwald has always belonged to Klingenthal, both ecclesiastically and politically. Thus the settlement was subject to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Voigtsberg until 1856 . After 1856, Döhlerwald belonged to the Klingenthal court office as part of the municipality of Klingenthal, and from 1875 to the Auerbach administration .

As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , Döhlerwald became part of Klingenthal in 1952 and became part of the Klingenthal district in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Klingenthal in 1996 and became part of the Vogtland district in 1996. The settlement south of the Zwotental – Klingenthal railway line now fits seamlessly into the closed settlement area of Klingenthal.
