Düttling is the smallest district of the town of Heimbach in the Düren district . The place has about 90 inhabitants.

geography

Düttling is the southernmost town in the district of Düren and lies on the wooded ridge Kermeter in the North Eifel Nature Park . The place is at 390  m above sea level. NHN . The wilderness workshop of the Eifel National Park, which is directly adjacent to the village, is also located in Düttling.

Next to Düttling are Bergbuir , Glehn (city of Mechernich ), Gemünd and Wolfgarten (city of Schleiden ) and Hergarten.

history

The first settlements took place in Roman times . Hence the place name could come from the Latin tutela = protective fortification . As Dudelange , the place is first mentioned in 1181 as the property of Siegburg Abbey. Düttling is in 1213 Dudellinge , 1508 Dotteling and 1543 Duydlingen called.

church

In 1789 the first chapel was built in honor of St. Donatus built. It was demolished in 1916 and replaced by a new chapel in 1935. The patron saint of the chapel is St. Apollonia, who is considered the patron saint of toothache.

Reorganization

The city of Heimbach and all its districts came from the Schleiden district to the Düren district on January 1, 1972 and merged with the city of Nideggen . On August 4, 1972, the Higher Administrative Court in Münster decided that Heimbach should become an independent municipality again.

economy

Düttling has always been an agricultural place. But after 1735 there were five mines in and around the place where iron ore and lead were mined in small quantities .

The federal highway 265 runs through Düttling . Local public transport is ensured by BVR bus line 231 .

The Eifel-Höhen-Route cycle path runs through the village and runs as a circular route around and through the Eifel National Park .
