DAS 53 ( Dahschur Süd 53 ) is the provisional , modern name of an ancient Egyptian pyramid that was found in the spring of 2006 during a survey by the German Archaeological Institute in Dahschur- Süd. It is located about 200 m northeast of the Northern Pyramid of Masghuna .
It dates with some certainty to the 13th Dynasty (around 1750 BC) due to ceramic fragments from beer mugs .
Construction details
The main part of the structure is the pit in which the burial chamber was to be built. It has a diameter of about 20 m and a depth of 4 m, which indicates that a larger pyramid is being built. Of this itself, only extensive heaps of mud brick and limestone rubble have remained around the pit.
exploration
Since the pyramid has not yet been excavated, neither the owner is known, nor can it be said whether the construction was ever completed. The dimensions of the structure could not yet be determined.
