The DB Engineering & Consulting (abbreviated DB E & C ) is the international engineering and consulting company of Deutsche Bahn and provides consulting, planning and implementation of for infrastructure and mobility projects in Germany and worldwide. DB E&C was created at the beginning of April 2016 from the merger of the two DB subsidiaries DB International and DB ProjektBau .
In mid-2019, the company employed around 4,900 people from 78 nations. The company's headquarters are at the EUREF Campus in Berlin-Schöneberg. DB E&C has numerous locations in Germany; The company has offices on every continent worldwide.
history
On July 1, 2016, DB E&C took over DB Umweltservice (formerly Bahn-Umwelt-Zentrum), with which the range of services is expanded to include analyzes in the environmental sector thanks to its own environmental laboratory.
Projects
Germany
Stuttgart – Ulm rail project
DB E&C and its responsible project company are significantly involved in the Stuttgart 21 project and the new Wendlingen – Ulm line , where they work on behalf of DB Netz AG . Among other things, the responsibility for geodetic services, for the overall planning and the planning approval for the dismantling of the old Stuttgart main station as well as the construction supervision of the entire project lie with Engineering & Consulting.
The company is also largely responsible for planning and awarding support for the Stuttgart 21 digital node .
Fehmarn Sound Crossing
Since 2016, DB E&C has also been involved in the Fehmarnsund Crossing project between Germany ( Schleswig-Holstein / Fehmarn ) and Denmark on behalf of DB Netz AG . The company is mainly responsible for the planning and the 3D visualization ( BIM ) of the bridge sections and a 5D simulation to show the cost trend.
Near / Middle East
Etihad Rail DB Operations
As early as 2006, DB was commissioned to carry out a feasibility study for a rail network in the UAE . Since then, DB, and since 2016 DB Engineering & Consulting, has been accompanying the development of the railway infrastructure in a joint venture, ERDB , and providing advice on site. A large part of the task is the implementation and control of the test operation on the built and equipped lines as well as their transfer to regular operation.
Haramain high speed project
In the high-speed Haramain project, the cities of Mecca , Jeddah and Medina are to be connected with a high-speed line for passenger transport. The route is to be driven at speeds of up to 320 km / h . In this project, DB E&C is responsible for planning, construction supervision and vehicle procurement. DB has also promised to continue advising the railway companies in the first year after the start of operations.
In addition, DB Engineering & Consulting is involved in a number of Metro construction projects.
Australia
Sydney Metro
DB E&C provides a large part of the planning services in the areas of equipment technology, vehicles, acceptance / commissioning and operation for the construction and start of the first fully automated subway in Sydney. At the end of May 2019, the first section between Rouse Hill and Chatswood (Sydney Metro Northwest) went into operation. A second section to Bankstown is also scheduled to go into operation by 2024.

Chinese high-speed network
In China, DB Engineering & Consulting takes over the construction supervision for high-speed lines in operation and the construction supervision of new lines with a total length of around 530 km. She also advises the Chinese railways on the maintenance of their CRH fleet.

Ltd. in India , THELO DB (Pty) Ltd. in South Africa and at Rail Technology and Engineering LLC (RailTec) in Saudi Arabia . InfraView GmbH from Mainz has been a 100 percent subsidiary of DB E&C since 2018.
DB Engineering & Consulting is a member of DVWG , VDEI , VDV , UIC and UITP , among others .
