Da'an ( Chinese  大安市 , Pinyin Dà'ān Shì ) is an independent city in the Jilin Province in northeast China . As an independent city, it is part of the administrative area of ​​the independent city ​​of Baicheng . Originally, today's administrative area of ​​Da'an belonged to Heilongjiang Province . It was not until September 15, 1954 that the Dalai and Anguang counties were subordinated to Jilin Province. First they became part of the then Baicheng administrative district. On November 21, 1958, the two counties were merged to form Da'an County, which was raised to the rank of an independent city on August 30, 1988.

Da'an is an important transport hub for trade links with Russia . There is the only large inland port with a connection to the sea in Jilin Province. This port currently has a capacity of over 1,000,000 tons per year.

Da'an has rail links to Changchun , Baicheng Central Station, Tongliao in Inner Mongolia and Ranghulu in Daqing , Heilongjiang Province . This is the home station for 56 active steam locomotives . A highway connects Da'an with Tumen , Ulanhot (the capital of the Hinggan League of Inner Mongolia) and Nenjiang County in Heilongjiang.

In 1993, Da'an was opened to foreign investment. Otherwise, Da'an is a city with abundant natural resources and a lot of fertile land around the city; it is mainly used for agriculture and fishing . Here three rivers meet, the Nen Jiang , the Tao'er and the Huolin rivers . Rice is mainly grown in the surrounding area. Fish production in Da'an has surpassed 10,000 tons and accounts for around 13 percent of Jilin's fish production.
