Olivia Dalila Rugama Carmona (born April 9, 1984 in Managua ) is a Nicaraguan athlete who competes in the javelin throw and shot put .

Athletic career

Dalila Rugama gained her first international experience in 2001 at the Central America and Caribbean Championships (CAC) in Guatemala City , where she won the bronze medal behind Bahamian Laverne Eve and Nora Aída Bicet from Cuba with a width of 42.19 m . The following year she finished eighth at the Ibero-American Championships there with 43.52 m and was eliminated from the qualification at the Junior World Championships in Kingston with 41.97 m, before she was 44 at the Central America and Caribbean Games in San Salvador . 91 m came fourth. In 2003 she won the bronze medal again at the CAC Championships in St. George’s with 47.40 m and again had to admit defeat to Bahamian Eve and Kateema Riettie from Jamaica. At the Pan American Junior Championships in Bridgetown she also won the bronze medal with 48.61 m and was then ninth at her first Pan American Games in Santo Domingo with a throw of 44.50 m. In 2004 she was allowed to take part in the Olympic Games in Athens for the first time thanks to a wildcard , but was eliminated there with 51.42 m in the qualification before she won the gold medal at the CAC Championships in Managua with 51.76 m.

In 2005 she won with 50.35 m at the Central American Championships in San José and at the Central American Games 2006 in Managua, she won with 49.48 m in the javelin throw and with 11.09 m also in the shot put. Then she finished fifth at the U23 NACAC championships in Santo Domingo with 49.31 m and was sixth at the CAC games in Cartagena with a width of 53.05 m. In 2007 she successfully defended her title at the Central American Games in San José with 52.10 m and then placed seventh at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro with 52.36 m, before she won the World Championships in Osaka with 53, 22 m eliminated in qualification. The following year she reached the CAC Championships in Cali with 52.83 m rank five and in 2010 she won the Central American Championships in Guatemala City with a width of 46.84 m. In 2011 she came in her third Pan American Games in Guadalajara with 46.82 m on 14th place and in 2012 she won again at the CAC Championships in Managua with 48.59 m.

Also in 2013 she was able to win the gold medal at the Central American Championships in Managua with 50.61 m and in 2015 she defended this title there with 48.65 m and after that she did not succeed in a single valid attempt at the Pan American Games in Toronto . In 2016 she won the CAC championships in Managua San Salvador with 48.00 m and was ninth in the shot put with 10.17 m. The following year she won the Central American Championships in Tegucigalpa with 48.51 m in the javelin throw and had to be content with the silver medal in the shot put with 12.29 m. Then she won the Central American Games in Managua with 53.47 m and won the bronze medal behind Naomi Smith Wint from Costa Rica and Aixa Middleton from Panama with the ball with a stroke of 12.89 m . In 2018 she won the Central American Championships in Guatemala City with 12.91 m in the shot put and with 47.93 m in the javelin throw. Then she finished fourth at the Central America and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla with 50.30 m. The following year she won again at the Central American Championships in Managua with 13.63 m and 51.59 m and was 14th at the Pan American Games in Lima with 47.66 m.
