Dane Jeffrey Cook (born March 18, 1972 in Cambridge , Massachusetts ) is an American comedian and actor .
life and career
Dane Cook grew up in Arlington , Massachusetts. His family has Irish and Italian roots and he was raised Roman Catholic .
His show material consists largely of everyday humor. His current skits include various topics such as car accidents, the time Cook worked at Burger King and mixed nerd humor (e.g. reference to Star Trek or Transformers ). Cook often refers to specific places or things using his own slang. Examples: Burger King is called "BK Lounge", Walgreens (a chain of stores that specialize in pharmaceutical and conventional products) is called "The Wall" and the sandwich is a "Sangwich".
Cook has often been referred to as "the most popular guy on MySpace " (alongside Tom Anderson , the service's founder) for once accepting all of the Circle Requests he received. Cook had more than 2,000,000 friends on his MySpace list.
In 2012, Cook starred in the NBC comedy series Next Caller . Of six planned episodes, however, only four were filmed before NBC abandoned production. A broadcast is not planned.
Great fingers
One trend that is attributed to him is the so-called Su-Fi (pronounced "su-fai") or Super Finger . Su-Fi is a gesture in which the middle and ring fingers are stretched, the index finger and little finger are curled, and the thumb is spread apart. Cook calls Super Finger “the improvement of the smelly finger ”. Cook himself said the movement got “out of control” because he was constantly receiving photos of people from all over the world who were being photographed with the Su-Fi .
In 2005 Cook started his own record company, which he called Superfinger Entertainment .
