Daniel Huppert

Daniel Huppert (* 1980 in Kaiserslautern ) is a German conductor and university professor .

Huppert has been general music director and chief conductor of the Mecklenburgische Staatskapelle since the 2012/2013 season and chief conductor and artistic director of the Zuger Sinfonietta since the 2016/2017 season . In the 2017/2018 winter semester, Huppert received a professorship for conducting at the Rostock University of Music and Drama , and has also been General Music Director of the Bergische Symphoniker since autumn 2019 .

Career

Daniel Huppert studied conducting and violoncello as well as musicology and German in Saarbrücken and later at the "Franz Liszt" Music Academy in Weimar . Until 2010, Huppert worked as Assistant du chef d'orchestre at the Opéra National de Paris .

Guest conductors have taken him to the Komische Oper Berlin , the Leipzig Opera House and the MDR Symphony Orchestra .

In 2011 Huppert became the first conductor of the Mecklenburg State Orchestra, the third oldest orchestra in Germany, at the Mecklenburg State Theater in Schwerin . The following year he became the new chief conductor and general music director. As part of this activity, he was the musical director of the Schwerin Castle Festival several times .

Since 2016 Daniel Huppert has also been chief conductor and artistic director of the Zug Sinfonietta .

In the 2019/20 season he directs the opera productions Der Rosenkavalier , Tosca and Die tote Stadt , as well as concerts with works a. a. by Bach , Beethoven , Dvořák , Tschaikowsky , Wagner , Liszt , Mahler , Shostakowitsch and Stravinsky .

In September 2017, Huppert received the certificate of appointment for the part-time artistic professorship “conducting” at the Rostock University of Music and Drama from the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in Schwerin . In addition to teaching activities, his professorship also includes tasks such as directing university orchestra projects and repertoire rehearsals.

Since autumn 2019 he has also held the position of the new general music director of the Bergische Symphoniker .
