Daniel Larsson (born February 7, 1986 in Boden ) is a Swedish ice hockey goalkeeper who was most recently under contract with ERC Ingolstadt in the German ice hockey league .

Career

Daniel Larsson began his career with the youth teams of Luleå HF , before he moved to the seniors of his home club Bodens IK in the second class Allsvenskan in the 2003/04 season. In the 2004/05 season he initially shared the post as regular goalkeeper with the Finn Matti Järvinen , when Bodens finished last in the main round. Only in the final round Larsson took over the position as number one, but could not prevent relegation to the third division.

In the summer of 2005, HockeyAllsvenskan moved to Hammarby IF . There he was also a regular goalkeeper and convinced with good performances, although his team only secured relegation in the relegation round, so that he was signed by Djurgårdens IF from the Elitserien and the Detroit Red Wings in the NHL Entry Draft 2006 in the third round at position 92 chose.

As a substitute goalkeeper for Teemu Lassila , Larsson was used 24 times in the 2006/07 season and was able to apply with his services for the Swedish national team , which did not take him to the World Cup in the end. For the 2007/08 season Larsson took over the post as the goalkeeper of Djurgårdens and finished with the team in seventh place. Larsson had the third best catch rate and the third best goal conceding average in the league and was awarded the Honkens trofé as the best goalkeeper in the Elitserien.

In May 2008 Larrson signed a two-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings, but it is planned that he will contest the 2008/09 season with the Red Wings farm team , the Grand Rapids Griffins , in the AHL . He quickly established himself alongside fellow goalkeeper Jimmy Howard and was used in half of the games. Larsson was instrumental in helping the Griffins establish themselves among the top teams in the league, remaining unbeaten in 13 consecutive regular-time games while conceding four times during that period. As a result, he was appointed to the PlanetUSA All-Star Team of the AHL All-Star Game in January 2009 .

In May 2010 Larrson was signed by HV 71 Jönköping from the Elitserien, for which he was active until the end of the 2011/12 season and showed statistically good performances. Then he was under contract with AIK Stockholm for two years , where he confirmed his good performance, but could not prevent the club's relegation to the second division in 2014.

In May 2014 he received a contract with Luleå HF, where he started his career, and won the Champions Hockey League with it in 2015 .

In February 2017 he received a contract until the end of the season with ERC Ingolstadt from the German Ice Hockey League , but did not play a game for the club.
