National Councilor Daniel Stolz

Daniel Stolz (born September 16, 1968 in Basel ) is a Swiss politician ( FDP The Liberals ). From 2006 to 2015 he was President of the FDP Basel-Stadt and from 2012 to 2015 a member of the National Council .

Life

After completing primary and secondary school in Basel, Stolz completed DMS4 for two years. Proudly then worked as a chemical laboratory assistant at Ciba AG and received the Master's Advanced Study for NPO at the FHNW Business Administration. He was president, today he is the managing director of the Aidshilfe both Basel.

Proud is open to his homosexuality . In 2005, he advocated the introduction of the registered partnership for same-sex couples in Switzerland, which was adopted in the referendum on the Partnership Act of June 5, 2005.

Political career

Stolz has been a member of the Grand Council since 2001 and has been a member of the Education and Culture Commission there since 2005. He was parliamentary group president of the FDP until he took over the presidency from Urs Schweizer , who resigned at short notice, in 2005, after Saskia Frei failed to run for government council .

In the federal elections in autumn 2011 , Stolz ran as another bourgeois candidate alongside Sebastian Frehner for the Basel Council of States seat ; Both were unsuccessful, however, against the previous Social Democratic Councilor Anita Fetz , who was re-elected with over 62 percent of the vote.

After the death of Peter Malama, Stolz moved to the National Council in autumn 2012, as Baschi Dürr resigned in favor of running for the Basel-Stadt government council. He was sworn in at the beginning of the 2012/2013 winter session on November 26, 2012. Stolz was not re-elected in the 2015 Swiss parliamentary elections.
