The Danziger Privat-Actien-Bank was a private central bank based in Danzig .

The Danziger Privat-Actien-Bank was founded in 1856 and granted central bank privilege by the State of Prussia . The bank renounced this privilege in 1890 after the establishment of the Reichsbank .

Between 1900 and 1911 there was a significant expansion of the scope of business and the establishment of branches in Stolp , Graudenz , Köslin , Belgard , Rügenwalde , Marienburg (East Prussia), Lauenburg , Sopot , Langfuhr , Prussisch Stargard , Elbing and Neufahrwasser .

In 1910 , the Goldschmidt & Kuttner banking house in Posen was taken over and continued as its own branch.

Another expansion step was the opening of further branches in Bromberg , Gotenhafen and Thorn in 1939 and 1940, combined with the change of name to "Ostdeutsche Privatbank AG".

Danziger Privat-Actien-Bank was listed on the Berlin and Danzig stock exchanges.

In 1940 the bank was taken over by the Bank der Deutsche Arbeit AG in Berlin. After the war, their story continued in the Bank für Gemeinwirtschaft .
