Darlenys Obregón Mulato (born February 21, 1986 in Puerto Tejada ) is a Colombian sprinter who specializes in the 200-meter run.

Athletic career

For the first time at an international championship, Darlenys Obregón took part in the South American Youth Championships in Asunción in 2002 and won the gold medal there with the sprint relay as well as silver over 100 and 200 meters and with the 4 x 100 meter relay. In 2003 she finished fifth over 200 meters at the South American Junior Championships in Guayaquil . At the Youth World Championships in Sherbrooke , Canada , she was eliminated over 100 meters in the semi-finals and finished seventh over 200 meters. In 2004 she won the gold medal over 200 meters at the U23 South American Championships. At the South American Championships in 2005 in Cali , she finished fourth over 200 meters and won gold with the Colombian relay. At the Pan American Junior Games she won bronze over 100 meters and finished fifth over 200 meters. At the World Championships in Helsinki she finished sixth in the relay in the final. At the Juegos Bolivarianos she also won the gold medal with the relay. At the Ibero-American Championships in Ponce she won silver over 200 meters and with the 4-ma-400-meter relay and bronze with the shorter sprint relay. At the Central America and Caribbean Games in Cartagena , she won silver with the relay and finished seventh over 200 meters. A little later she won gold over 100, 200 meters and with the relay and silver with the long sprint relay at the U23 South American Championships. In 2007 she was eliminated from the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro with the relay in the preliminary run and reached the semi-finals over 200 meters.

In 2008 she won the gold medal over 200 meters and with the relay at the Ibero-American Championships in Iquique . It was followed by silver and bronze at the Central America and Caribbean Games in Cali. She also qualified for the Olympic Games in Beijing , where she reached the quarter-finals over 200 meters. In 2009 she was with the Colombian team South American champion and runner-up at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Havana . At the World Championships in Berlin , she finished eighth in the relay and was eliminated in the individual competition in the preliminary run. At the Juegos Bolivarianos she won the gold medal in all four disciplines in which she started. In 2010 a silver medal followed with the relay at the Ibero-American Championships in San Fernando and a fifth place over 200 meters. At the Central American and Caribbean Games in Puerto Rico, she won the gold medal with the 4-by-100-meter relay and silver with the 4-by-400-meter relay and bronze over 200 meters. At the World Championships in Daegu , she was eliminated with the Colombian relay in the preliminary stages. At the Pan American Games in Guadalajara , she reached eighth place in the individual competition. In 2012 she won bronze at the Ibero-American Championships in Barquisimeto with the relay and took sixth place over 200 meters. At the Olympic Games in London she was eliminated with the relay in the preliminary round , as well as at the World Championships in Moscow 2013. In addition, she won the gold medal with the relay again at the Juegos Bolivarianos and took fourth place in the individual competition.

In 2014 she took part in the Central America and Caribbean Games in Xalapa , where she won silver in the relay and was eliminated in the individual competition in the preliminary run. In 2016 she finished fourth at the Ibero-American Championships. In 2017 she took part in the South American Championships in Luque , where she won the silver medal with the relay. Over 100 meters she finished seventh in the final and surprisingly, she was eliminated in her specialty in the preliminary run. In November she won the bronze medal with the Colombian relay at the Juegos Bolivarianos in Santa Marta .

So far she has been the Colombian champion twice.
