In 1883 Geronimo and his warriors surrender to the United States Army . They undertake by contract to only stay in the Indian reservation in San Carlos in the future, which is to belong to them, for which they are to be provided with clothing and food by the United States. When Geronimo finds out that the head of the reservation is breaking the contract and is planning to sell the land to a ranchers, the Apaches break out of the reservation and go to war against the soldiers.

After a long struggle full of privation, the situation seems hopeless for the insurgents. They have hardly any food or ammunition left and are being shot at by the army with a cannon in their position.
