The Dase is a nearly 10 km long, eastern and orographically right tributary of the Erpe in the northern Hessian districts of Kassel and Waldeck-Frankenberg .

course

The Dase rises in the Kassel district on the eastern outskirts of Nothfelden , a northeastern district of Wolfhagen . Its source is in the southern part of the agriculturally used Elsunger Senke , which is located between the Elsbergrücken in the west and the Hinterhabichtswälder Kuppen in the east and belongs to the Ostwaldecker peripheral sinks . It is located on the northern slope of the Am Galgenberg hill (approx.  325  m above sea  level ), which represents the unwooded transition area to the Altenhasunger Graben , at around 307  m .

The Dase flows counterclockwise in a three-quarter circle open to the southwest. In doing so, it initially flows northeastwards through the Filtz mountain ( 395.5  m ) located in the Elsunger Depression west of the brook and the eastern massif of the Großer Bärenberg ( 600.7  m ), part of the Hinterhabichtswälder peaks . Then it runs directly south and west past Oberelsungen , a west-north-west district of Zierenberg .

Thereafter, the Dase flows north-west past the Malsburg Forest (max. 448.9  m ) to the north-east of the brook to Niederelsungen , a north-north-east part of Wolfhagen. Then it pierces north to north-west of the Burgberg ( 334.5  m ) in a south-west direction through the Elsbergrücken, a ridge of the Ostwaldecker peripheral depressions. Then the Dase flows past the Emanuel Geibel memorial stone, which reminds us that the poet wrote the beginning of his wandering song May has come in 1841 on his journey to Escheberg Castle . After that she crosses the border to the Waldeck-Frankenberg district.

Finally, the Dase flows around 500 m south-east or a little above Ehringen , a south-south-east district of Volkmarsen , in the Ehringen flood retention basin , a few meters from the dam, at around 200  m in the Twiste tributary Erpe ; at the mouth there was a bridge ( 202.4  m ) in front of the dam.
