David Albin Zywiec Sidor

David Albin Zywiec Sidor OFMCap (born July 15, 1947 in East Chicago , Indiana ; † January 5, 2020 in a military hospital in Managua , Nicaragua ) was an American clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Siuna , Nicaragua.

Life

David Albin Zywiec Sidor, the eldest of five children, entered 1965 in the Congregation of the Capuchins in the convent of St. Felix in Huntington, Indiana, and received on 1 June in 1974 by Salvador Schlaefer OFM in Milwaukee, the sacrament of Holy Orders . He studied philosophy at St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, Indiana, and theology at St. Francis School of Pastoral Ministry at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

On 24 June 2002 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Giru Marcelli and Auxiliary Bishop in the Apostolic Vicariate of Bluefields . The Archbishop of Managua , Miguel Cardinal Obando Bravo SDB , donated him episcopal ordination on September 13 of the same year ; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Jean-Paul Aimé Gobel , Apostolic Nuncio in Nicaragua , and Pablo Ervin Schmitz Simon OFMCap, Vicar Apostolic of Bluefields.

Pope Francis appointed him on November 30, 2017 as the first bishop of the diocese of Siuna, established on the same date . The inauguration took place on January 13 of the following year.

He is in the Cathedral of Our Lady of Fatima of Siuna buried.
