David Byrd

David Byrd (born September 3, 1932 in New York City , New York - † January 26, 2001 in Studio City , Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor .

Life

Byrd began his film and television career in the mid-1970s. After guest appearances in Our Little Farm and Starsky and Hutch , he made his feature film debut in the blaxploitation film Alaska Dreams . In 1977 he played the role of Vernon Bales in 52 episodes of the soap opera Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman . In the same year he played in the disaster film roller coaster . When Dr. Lester was seen in a recurring role on the sitcom Highcliffe Manor .

In 1980 Byrd acted in John G. Avildsen's thriller The Formula on the side of George C. Scott and Marlon Brando . This was followed by guest roles in successful series of the 1980s such as Cagney & Lacey , Remington Steele and Hill Street Police Station . From 1985 to 1986 he belonged to Mary Tyler Moore , Katey Sagal and James Tolkan to the regular cast of the sitcom Mary , which was discontinued after 13 episodes. In the crime series Columbo he had two appearances in different roles. He also played other film roles in The Beverly Hillbillies Are Going! , Hudsucker - The Great Leap and Lost Highway .

Byrd died of complications from cancer. He was married to actress Anne Gee Byrd from 1961 until his death and had a daughter.
