David Da Costa (born April 19, 1986 ) is a football goalkeeper with Swiss and Portuguese citizenship who plays for FC Lugano in the Super League .

Career

David Da Costa began his career at FC Zurich , for which he played from 1992 to 2008. In the 2007/08 season (second half of the season) he was loaned to FC Chiasso in the Challenge League . In the following 2008/09 season, the goalkeeper moved to Concordia Basel , where he completed 17 league games. After Concordia Basel announced their retirement from professional football, Da Costa moved back to FC Chiasso, with whom he made nine appearances in the first division in the preliminary round of the 2009/10 season . This was followed by a period of several months without a club, during which he was able to train with the FC Zurich U21s. From the second half of the season he strengthened FC Wohlen in the Challenge League, where he caught the attention of those responsible at FC Thun .

For the 2010/11 season David Da Costa moved to the Bernese Oberland . FC Thun won the Challenge League championship in the 2009/10 season and was promoted to the Axpo Super League . Da Costa thus appeared for the first time in the highest league in Switzerland.

From 2012 to 2015 Da Costa plays again for his youth club FC Zurich as the first goalkeeper, then he moved to Novara in the Serie B . For the 2017/18 season he moved back to Switzerland for FC Lugano .
