Career

Player career

Jacobacci's playing career began with the BSC Young Boys , for whom he played from 1978 to 1983. From 1981 to 1983 he was loaned to FC Vevey , which at that time played like YB in the Swiss first division (NLA). He then moved to Neuchâtel Xamax and became Swiss Champion with the Club in 1987. After this season Jacobacci moved to AC Bellinzona . After four seasons in Ticino, he went to FC Wettingen , which was also playing in the NLA at the time. After one season he played two more seasons with Servette FC Genève , one with FC St. Gallen and one with Lausanne Sport . Finally he ended his playing career at AC Bellinzona.

Coaching career

Maurizio Jacobacci began his career as a football coach at AS Origlio and Monte Carassoin in the 3rd division . He then coached FC Mendrisio ( 2nd division ). With this club he won the Ticino Cup and made it to the first division . He moved to FC Chiasso (1st league) and then made the leap into the Super League as assistant coach at Grasshoppers Zurich . He stayed there for three years and worked with Hanspeter Zaugg and Marcel Koller , among others . Grasshoppers once became Swiss champion under his assistance. In June 2003 he obtained the NL-Trainer / UEFA Pro-Diploma and became the trainer of SR Delémont . This was followed by engagements with three other Challenge League clubs and then the premiere in the Super League with nine games at FC Sion . In 2008 he went to SC Kriens , which he led back from the 1st division in the Challenge League. In the two subsequent Challenge League seasons, he achieved the outstanding 5th place in the final and the semi-finals of the Swiss Cup in the first year, and in the second year he made it to the league. Also in the 2010/11 season he led the Kriens to stay in the Challenge League, but immediately resigned from his coaching position immediately after the end of the season. Jacobacci cited the lack of prospects in view of the upcoming reduction in the number of participants in the Challenge League as the main reason. In addition, SC Kriens had already announced that the financial situation made a budget reduction inevitable.

In January 2012 Jacobacci took over the training of the first team at FC Schaffhausen . In the summer of 2013 Jacobacci rose to the Challenge League with FC Schaffhausen with a 2-1 win against YF Juventus. Since then, the club has played in the midfield of this league. On March 7, 2016, Jacobacci was released from FC Schaffhausen.

On June 7, 2016 Jacobacci became head coach of the traditional Tyrolean club FC Wacker Innsbruck in Austria. After completing 10 rounds in the 2016/17 championship , FC Wacker Innsbruck was 8th out of 10 with 9 points. On September 21, 2016, the association announced the separation from Jacobacci.
