David Lee (born 1938 in Scotland , † October 16, 2008 in Panama City , Panama ) was a British sound engineer .

Life

Lee began his career with the BBC . and made his film debut in 1973 as a sound engineer on Ivan Reitman's horror comedy Cannibal Girls . He then worked on a number of Hollywood productions such as Police Academy - Dumber Than the Police Allowed and The Night of Adventures in the 1980s and Santa Clause - A Nice Christmas Present and Crash in the 1990s. In 2003 he and Michael Minkler and Dominick Tavella received the Oscar in the Best Sound forChicago . In the same year he also received the BAFTA Film Award in the Best Sound category. He was nominated twice for a Primetime Emmy for his work on television productions; In 1987 he received the award for the miniseries Cause of Death - Agent Orange .

In addition, Lee was a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) and taught at the International School of Film and Television in Havana . He died at the age of 70 as a result of a brief serious illness in Panama City.
