David Walker (born June 13, 1979 in Bridgewater , Nova Scotia ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player .

Career

David Walker began his career in 1996 with the Moncton Wildcats in the Québec Major Junior Hockey League . By 2000, he played 72 games for the Wildcats. Walker then majored in Political Science and History at Dalhousie University . During these four years he was also active for the team called Dalhousie Tigers , which is organized in the game operations of the Canadian University Championship Canadian Interuniversity Sport .

In the summer of 2004, Walker signed his first professional contract with the Long Beach Ice Dogs from the ECHL . In his three years with the Ice Dogs, he reached the play-offs once . After his team stopped playing in 2007, the Canadian joined the Laredo Bucks from the Central Hockey League . With the Bucks he got into the third play-off round. Walker then signed as the first player ever to play with the Ontario Reign , who started playing in the ECHL for the 2008/09 season. He stayed there for two years and reached the play-offs in 2009. On June 4, 2010, the Iserlohn Roosters from the German Ice Hockey League announced the Canadian's commitment. He first signed a trial contract until the end of August and came on the recommendation of former roosters trainer Greg Poss , who most recently worked as an assistant trainer for the Ontario Reign. On August 26, 2010, the Roosters announced that they would not renew Walker's contract because he was unable to fully meet expectations. In June 2011 he was signed by the Schwenninger Wild Wings for one year.
