The Passau deanery is one of 10 deaneries in the Roman Catholic diocese of Passau .

In terms of area, it is largely identical to the area of the city of Passau . It borders in the east on the diocese of Linz ( Austria ), in the south on the deanery Pocking and in the north on the deanery Vilshofen and the deanery Hauzenberg . Thirteen parishes and two branches were merged in 2012 to form seven parish associations.

The regional differences between the deanery and the city of Passau are essentially as follows: The district Laufenbach in the Heining district is assigned to the parish Sandbach in the deanery Vilshofen; Most of the western Ilzschleife with the Reschenstein Castle , but without the "Hofbauerngut", in the Hals district of the Salzweg parish of the Hauzenberg deanery. On the other hand, the places Irring and Gaishofen belong to the municipality of Tiefenbach and the market Windorf to the parish of St. Salvator (Schalding l. D. D.).

The dean is the cathedral capital, Helmut Reiner. Vice dean is Thomas Brandl, Heining.
