Denis Valeryevich Franskewitsch ( Russian Денис Валерьевич Франскевич * 6. June 1981 in Karaganda , Kazakh SSR ) is a Russian professional ice hockey goaltender who since July 2016 re-ei Rubin Tyumen in the Supreme Hockey League is under contract.

Career

Denis Franskewitsch began playing ice hockey at the Junost ice hockey school in his native Karaganda. Later he moved to the ice hockey school Neftechimik in Nizhnekamsk and was used from 1998 in the second team of Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk in the Pervaya League . From 2000 he was back-up of Ildar Muchometow in the first men's team of the club, which participated in the super league. In the 2001/02 season he made his debut in the Super League. After his third game, against Amur Khabarovsk , the performances shown were considered insufficient and Franskewitsch was sent to the second division, the Vysschaya League , to Neftyanik Leninogorsk . For Neftjanik he completed a total of 60 missions by the end of the 2002/03 season.

At the beginning of the 2003/04 season he returned to Neftechimik and was used in a Superliga game before he was again sent to the Wysschaja Liga, this time to Gasowik Tyumen . The 2004/05 season he spent again at Neftjanik Leninogorsk and reached the playoffs with the team. Franskewitsch showed very good performances in the main round with an average of 1.78. Therefore, he was brought back to the super league by Neftechimik in 2005, but got stiff competition from Finnish goalkeeper Petri Vehanen in 2006 . After only six missions in the 2006/07 season, he received no new contract with Neftechimik and returned to the second division. In the following season he was under contract with Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg . After the end of the season, Awtomobilist should first be included in the newly founded Continental Hockey League , but the funding did not materialize. Therefore, Denis Franskewitsch moved to Barys Astana from Kazakhstan , which was accepted into the KHL. At Barys Astana he had strong competition with Marc Lamothe and Alexei Kuznetsov and only made 17 appearances in the KHL.

After Awtomobilist was accepted into the KHL in 2009, Franskewitsch decided to return to Yekaterinburg. There he shared the goalkeeping position with Iwan Lissutin and made 51 appearances in the KHL in two seasons. In June 2011 he received another contract with Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk, where he was scheduled as a back-up for Tuomas Tarkki and completed 21 KHL games.
