Dennis Brinkmann (born November 22, 1978 in Essen ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach . The midfielder mostly acted in the defensive midfield.
His twin brother Tim Brinkmann played from 2000 to 2014 in the Westphalian football league at FC Gütersloh 2000 and was team captain there. Tim Brinkmann has been training the district league team Viktoria Rietberg since July 2014.
Career
In his youth Brinkmann played at various clubs in the Ruhr area . His first club in the men's area was Borussia Dortmund , where he played in the second team in 1998/99.
From 1998 to 2003 Brinkmann was under contract with Rot-Weiss Essen , where he played in the upper and regional leagues. After Essen had narrowly missed promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2003 , Brinkmann moved to the second division Alemannia Aachen .
There he initially saw himself only as an “alternative”, but in his first season in the second division he soon made the leap into the top line -up of the strong Alemannia, which only missed promotion to the first division by one point due to a defeat on the last match day . Together with players like Frank Paulus and Emmanuel Krontiris , Brinkmann stood for the so-called "new Alemannia" and scored four league goals in 29 championship games. In addition, the club reached the final in the DFB Cup in the same season , but lost to Werder Bremen 2: 3. Brinkmann played a total of 54 second division games for Aachen and played seven games in the 2004/05 UEFA Cup . Thanks to his flexibility, he was a constant in the defense of the Alemannia. The intended promotion to the 1st Bundesliga was not achieved by his club during this time.
In 2005 Brinkmann moved to the second division promoted Eintracht Braunschweig , as he promised better prospects for regular missions there. He quickly developed into a top performer in the Lions' 2005/06 season and played 16 league games until February 2006 when he had to undergo surgery for an Achilles tendon and was out for the rest of the season.
At the beginning of the 2006/07 season he came back to use, but could not prevent the relegation of Eintracht. Brinkmann extended in May 2007 with Eintracht Braunschweig until 2009. In the 2007/08 season of the Regionalliga Nord Dennis Brinkmann was the team captain of the Braunschweiger Eintracht.
For the 2010/11 season, Brinkmann moved within the league to TuS Koblenz . When relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga, he should help lead a young, new team. Trainer Petrik Sander named him captain. Brinkmann received a contract in Koblenz until 2012, but due to the withdrawal of TuS Koblenz from the 3rd division, he changed again for the 2011/12 season and signed a contract with Wuppertaler SV Borussia . On May 27, 2012, Brinkmann announced the end of his career due to sports disability .
Two years later, the Mülheim district league promoted DJK Blau Weiß Mintard reactivated him .
Since 2015 he has been playing in Essen in the district league A for the ESG 99/06.
Coaching career
Brinkmann passed his first coaching exams during his time as a player. After the end of his career, he initially volunteered at ESG 99/06 Essen in the youth sector . For the 2013/14 season he finally signed a contract as assistant coach of the second team at VfL Bochum in the West Regional Football League . From 2015 he coached the A-youth of Wuppertaler SV in the U-19 Bundesliga .
In the summer of 2018, Brinkmann became the coach of FC Gütersloh . He resigned on February 26, 2019 after his team had only won 14 points from 18 championship games. For the 2019/20 season he will take over the coaching position at Essen's upper division FC Kray .

After graduating from high school , he first completed his training as a wholesale and foreign trade clerk and later successfully completed his studies in sports management with a bachelor's degree.
