Dennis Meyer (born September 23, 1977 in Berlin ) is a former German ice hockey player who was under contract with the EHC Freiburg between 2008 and 2019 and originally from the youth department of the BSC Prussia . Meyer, who began his career as an attacker, was primarily used in defense at EHC Freiburg.
Career
Born in Berlin, he originally came from the youth of BSC Preussen, where he played his first professional game in the 1995/96 season . Since he was unable to assert himself here, however, he moved to what was then the second highest division, the ice hockey Bundesliga for TSV Erding, during the 1997/98 season . There he played two seasons before returning to the Berlin Capitals for the 1999/2000 season . In the years that followed, he worked for various clubs, all of which were in the top ice hockey league . In the 2007/08 season Meyer played with the Hanover Indians in the play-offs against EHC Freiburg and scored two goals in one of these games, which made the Freiburg officials aware of him and signing Meyer for the next season. Since then he has been on the ice for EHC Freiburg, although he was inactive in the 2011/12 season . In the meantime, Dennis Meyer was even captain of the EHC Freiburg in the 2009/10 season . Dennis Meyer plays primarily as a defender in Freiburg, but if there is a need, the all-rounder is also called up as a striker.
In addition to his career as an ice hockey player, Meyer completed an apprenticeship as a banker and also works full-time in this profession. After eleven years in the squad of EHC Freiburg and a serious injury during the 2018/19 season, Meyer decided to end his career in April 2019.
