Denny Matthes (born June 4, 1983 in Lübben (Spreewald) ) is a former German soccer player .
Career
society
Matthes joined the youth team at Energie Cottbus in 1998 from TSG Lübben . In November 2001 he made his debut for the second team from Cottbus in the fourth-class league when he was substituted on the twelfth match day of the 2001/02 season against SV Braunsbedra in the 88th minute for Sven Kubis . He scored his first goal for Cottbus II in September 2002 in a 3-1 win against FSV Wacker 03 Gotha . In the same month, Matthes suffered a cruciate ligament tear . In May 2004 he suffered the same injury again. After a break of more than two years, he made his comeback in April 2005 against TSG Neustrelitz .
For the 2006/07 season, Matthes moved to FSV Budissa Bautzen . In his six months with Budissa he completed eleven games in the league, in which he was able to score a goal. In January 2007 he joined Grün-Weiß Lübben .
For the 2007/08 season he moved to the Austrian regional division 1. FC Vöcklabruck . He made his debut for Upper Austria in the third-class regional league in August 2007 when he was in the starting line-up against SV Spittal / Drau on the first day of that season and was replaced by Markus Hermes in the 84th minute . He scored his first goal for Vöcklabruck in the same month in a 2-1 win against Union St. Florian . At the end of the season he rose to the second division with the club . He played his first game in the second highest Austrian division in July 2008 when he came on as a substitute for Mario Steiner on the second day of the 2008/09 season against FC Lustenau 07 in the 68th minute .
In January 2009, Matthes returned to Grün-Weiß Lübben. With the club, he was relegated from the Brandenburg League in 2012 . He ended his career after the 2016/17 season.
National team
Matthes made his debut in a friendly against the Czech Republic for the German U-19 team in March 2002 when he came on for Christian Schulz at half-time . In August 2002 he played his only game for the U-20 team against Switzerland . In that game he was brought into play in the 66th minute for Denni Patschinsky .
Functionary career
After the end of his career, Matthes became a board member at Grün-Weiß Lübben .
