action

After bravely defending himself against the gang of the Mexican outlaw Pedro and severely punishing two of his people who had stolen his horse, the gunslinger "Dakota Joe" appears at the wealthy landowner Don Carlos, who hires him to take care of Dr . Shoot García Gómez. During the preparations for the implementation, "Joe" notices that Don Carlos is an unscrupulous exploiter and the doctor is a supporter of Emiliano Zapata . Gracian, Carlos' brother, who is also cross with the lovers Pablo and Carmencita, who also became friends with the stranger from the States, would benefit from his murder.

"Dakota Joe" changes sides due to his impressions of the cruelty of the rulers and leaves the doctor the bullet intended for him. The already strained relationship between the poor peasants and the dictatorial Don Carlos comes to a head when Gracian, who assaults Carmencita during a fiesta, is shot by Pablo, who is protecting his loved one. "Dakota Joe" is captured on an accusation from the real jealous Beatrice - wife of the large landowner. Pedro, now employed in the private police force of the Don, helps to free the American. When the two of them enter the tormentor's villa at night, his safe is emptied and Beatrice is killed; Later, on the run through a desert, Pedro remembers his life as a bandit and takes the stolen money from the surprised American. Escaped from dying of thirst with the help of Carmencita, the "gringo" takes revenge on the Mexican villain in a saloon by shooting three of his followers and then himself; He leaves the money to the revolutionaries around Pablo who are setting out on new deeds.

criticism

The “average staging” was hardly noticed. Most of the time, the wooden representation of Undari is criticized, and the film is viewed as a cheap copy of successful models.

Remarks

The Italian title is Un uomo e una colt . The western is listed as an Italian-Spanish film in Italian sources and as a Spanish-Italian film in Spanish sources. The official website “Archivio del Cinema Italiano” lists it under the original title chosen here.
