action
The focus of the plot are four people. Namely the student Anja; her husband, the judge Leonhard; his former wife, the doctor Marlene; and his best friend, the doctor Paul, who is also Marlene's new husband. Anja and Leonhard get to know each other in Marlene and Paul's house, marry shortly afterwards and have a son, Daniel. However, Anja's desire for love is not fulfilled in the relationship. When she's not paying attention, Daniel gets scalded and is hospitalized. In the following years Anja drinks more alcohol and starts an affair with Paul. When Marlene and Leonhard find out, Leonhard files for divorce. After an alcohol poisoning, Anja goes on a detox treatment. During a therapy group excursion, Anja throws herself out of the window and dies.
background
The film was shot in Cologne , Cuxhaven , Hamburg and Venice . A budget of around three million euros was available for shooting. It premiered on October 8, 2006 at the Hamburg Film Festival. It was broadcast on television for the first time in Austria on December 27, 2006 and was shown in German cinemas on April 19, 2007.
reception
Kino.de praises the film for “strong actors” and a “fabulous ensemble”. Andreas R. Becker from Filmstarts.de , on the other hand, complains that the literature is poorly implemented and the dialogues are artificial and the film is therefore boring, but praises Barbara Auer's acting. Peter Luley from Spiegel considers the four constellation to be artificial and, like Andreas R. Becker, speaks of “pseudo-philosophically intertwined dialogues”. He sees the appeal of the film in the “excellent” acting performance of Jessica Schwarz and “impressive pictures”. FAZ reviewer Jochen Hieber writes about the film: “Theo Bierkens' camera lets the relational quartet act with and against each other in noble interiors, places the figures in cool city panoramas and lost landscapes. Even if there is far too much cello on the soundtrack, “Der Liebeswunsch” is a passable film. But he downsizes the novel. "
