action

Stan and Simon want to leave the police force and build a new future with Simon's son on an island. During their last forays into the bars, they discover the violent criminal Schneider in the “New York” nightclub. Schneider lures Simon into the toilet and shoots him in cold blood. Stan pursues him, but he escapes.

Two years later, Schneider returns from exile and takes revenge on his buddy Sumatra, who works with Stan. Stan stayed with the police after Simon's death and sent his son to boarding school. From there, however, the little one tears away all the time and makes him shy away from his numerous friends. Meanwhile Schneider has specialized in robberies with particular severity, which he carries out with a gang of gypsies. Stan picks up his trail and arrests the bank robber Pignon. He negotiates the deal with him to meet with Schneider. He also visits Schneider's immediate partners, the Carmonis, in their casino and puts them under pressure. Since Schneider is quite unpredictable, the Carmonis want to get rid of him with the help of Pignon. Pignon meets with Schneider. Stan stands ready with his men, but his colleague Commissioner Pezzoli drives him into the parade and an exchange of fire ensues, with Pignon being shot by Schneider while trying to escape. As a last resort, Stan storms the casino, seizes the loot and hides it in the police station.

Stan takes Schneider's escape driver to his chest, who gives him a clue to find Schneider's whereabouts. During an eavesdropping operation on the gypsy Rocky, he learns Schneider's whereabouts and storms his hotel room with a shotgun. Schneider is surprised and his girlfriend Sandra is accidentally fatally hit by Schneider when she tries to kill Stan. Schneider flees through the window and is caught in the side street by Stan.

Special

  • Yolande Gilot, who plays Schneider's girlfriend, became known in Germany through Tatort - The Exchange with Götz George in the role of Veronique. Scenes with her are e.g. B. can also be seen in the accompanying music video Midnight Lady by Chris Norman .
  • Bernard Farcy later became known as Commissioner Gibert through Luc Besson's taxi films .
  • The German title is misleading and suggests a continuation. However, Belmondo's character of Beaumont from The Professional dies at the end of the film and has no relation to the character of Jalard.

Reviews

“Idea and carelessly staged action thriller; an indigestible mixture of genre clichés, mendacious stirring effects and scenes of violence. "

"Belmondo [...] routinely gives the violent vengeance angel in this uninspired and lead-laden cracking-baller story - and that's it. "The Profi II" - one of the worst films by the French cinema star and a big cinema flop - may serve as evidence that the Belmondo type had to show signs of wear and tear after 15 years. "
