Der Typ, 13 Kinder & ich ( working title : 13 plus 1 ) is a German comedy film by director Josh Broecker , who also worked on the script, from 2009. Julia Brendler plays the leading role as the single mother of 13 children Esther Ohling.

action

Esther Ohling is a mother of five and also a foster mother of eight children. The widow and her thirteen children together live in a house on a piece of land that the owners of a ceramics and tableware company would like to take possession of so that new factory buildings can be built there. The background to this is that the company owners cannot avoid an expansion, otherwise they risk being taken over by the Chinese ceramics industry.

To initiate the purchase of the property, the company owner puts his charming nephew Leon on Esther to persuade her to sell. But as luck would have it, the first meeting happens completely differently than planned: Leon meets Esther on a lonely forest path, because her car broke down there because of a breakdown. First of all, the two realize that they are actually fundamentally different. However, this does not prevent her from meeting more often from now on, although it should be noted that Esther had not recognized Leon's real interest, namely the acquisition of her property on behalf of his uncle, until then. However, when she gets behind his intentions, she refuses to sell the property she lives on with her thirteen children, despite the fact that the house is deteriorating and she has no money to tackle urgent renovations.

Until the time comes when Leon falls in love with Esther, because now he, too, who grew up as an orphan with his uncle, realizes how important an intact family is. The heads of the ceramics company can now throw all the takeover plans overboard, because Leon takes the side of Esther and her children and thus prevents the sale of the property and the house.
